SVMS Remote Learning Plan

In the event of the need to switch to fully remote learning, the following guidelines will be in place for all hybrid and 6th grade South Valley students.  This is not the current plan, but will be ONLY IF we are required to move to fully remote learning.


REMOTE-ONLY SCHEDULE:

  • Student online contact time will be 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday - Friday.

  • Students are required to log onto each of their classes in the morning (see schedule) and complete work in the afternoon.

  • Teachers will follow the same schedule as before, including online support hours.

  • Students will have the same schedule as their in-person days, but with modified times:

Online Check-In/Assessment Time

2:00 - 3:00 PM


ATTENDANCE:

  • Attendance will be taken by every teacher, each period.

  • If a student does not check in with their teacher each period, they will be counted as absent.


GRADING:

  • All assignments and tests will be graded as normal.

  • Eligibility rules for athletics will remain the same.


ASSESSMENT:

  • There is a designated assessment time in the afternoon to be used for assessments, as needed.

  • This designated time may also be used for other instructional purposes.


PREVIOUSLY REMOTE ONLY STUDENTS:

  • All students who were previously enrolled in fully remote learning, will continue with their previous schedule.

MESA USA is the national association of Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement programs. MESA is an award-winning K – 16 STEM organization. Our leaders, students, parents and alumni are fierce advocates for equity and access to high quality STEM education and training.

Meeting Dates and Times:

Monthly on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of the month from 3:20 to 4:30 PM

Starting date: Tuesday, October 27th and Wednesday October 28th from 3:20 to 4:30 PM

ZAP

Get caught up on your work and receive tutoring support from your teachers during ZAP (Zeros Aren’t Permitted)!

 

Starting Dates: 

Tuesday*, October 6th afterschool until 4:30 PM (Cohort “A” Only)

Wednesday, October 7th afterschool until 4:30 PM (Cohort “B” Only)

*After the week of October 6th, ZAP will only take place on Wednesdays, for cohort “B”, and Thursdays, for cohort “A.”

 

Recurring Dates:

Wednesdays from 3:20 – 4:30 PM (6th Graders and Cohort “B” Only)

Thursdays from 3:20 – 4:30 PM (6th Graders and Cohort “A” Only)

Other Important Announcements

- Students should complete 120 minutes of iReady lessons per week.

-Assignments will be posted daily by 8:00 AM for online and remote days.*
*Seelhoff, Kern (Oxford), Goff, and Coach Tia will push out weekly assignments on Tuesdays by 8:00 AM.

- Attendance needs to be taken in Infinite Campus by 3:30 everyday during students' online or remote days.  If they do not check in, they will be counted absent and will receive a phone call.
